This project will convert an old lagoon with a spring into a stormwater wetland to treat stormwater from a neighborhood along the South River. Biochar will be used on the slopes of the wetland and vegetation growth will be monitored to see if biochar enhances vegetation growth and survival.
Planning to incorporate biochar along the banks of a wetland was a challenge. Geotechnical reports were relied on to ascertain the characteristics of soils. Once excavation begins, the soil characteristics will have to be verified.
